Crafting Unique Handmade Journals
At Coleela Bindery, we create high-quality, handmade sketchbooks using traditional techniques and unique fabrics, perfect for artists, writers, and contemplative souls.

Our Story
Coleela Bindery was founded in 2023 by Lenny O. Mendoza, a bookbinder and textile artist with a deep love for both paper and fabric. What began as a personal hobby soon grew into a passionate craft, rooted in the art of hand-binding books with carefully selected textiles.
Before discovering bookbinding, Lenny had already been working with fabric scraps—remnants from her textile art and doll-making, which first sparked an interest in repurposing materials. The journey into bookbinding began during an online stitch club workshop, where they learned to create a hand-bound journal with a fabric cover. That experience ignited a fascination with bookbinding, leading to continuous exploration of stitching techniques and binding styles.
The name Coleela is inspired by Lenny’s two daughters, Coleen and Leela, whose curiosity and creativity are a constant source of inspiration. Their presence influences each project, making every handcrafted book a reflection of both artistry and heartfelt storytelling.

I was soooo amazed by how she crafted this one. I loved all the details of it. The beautiful hand-stiched design on the front, how neatly she wrapped the cover of the book with the fabric she chose and how she stitched the pages together to make it easy to paint on without having to clip the pages. You can really see the love, effort and care that she put into it. Thank you so much.
